Emirates and Uber team up to transform traveller journeys
Skywards members in UAE to earn Miles on rides abroad
DUBAI: Emirates has entered into a strategic partnership with Uber, marking a new chapter in seamless travel experiences.
The Dubai-based airline and the global ride-hailing platform signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance on-ground mobility and provide integrated, rewarding journeys for travellers.
The agreement aims to deliver a more connected experience for Emirates customers, combining air travel with efficient airport transfers and city rides via Uber. It also introduces loyalty rewards for Emirates Skywards members using the Uber platform in select markets.
The MoU was signed by Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, and Anabel Diaz Calderon, Vice President and Head of EMEA Mobility at Uber.
Miles and mobility
As part of the collaboration, the two companies will develop a booking system that integrates Uber Ride Vouchers into Emirates flight reservations. This move will allow passengers to enjoy smoother transitions between their homes, the airport, and their destinations.
The partnership also includes plans to offer select Emirates customers Uber rides to and from airports. In addition, Skywards members in the UAE may soon earn Miles on Uber rides across select markets and potentially redeem them for Uber app credits or ride vouchers.
Beyond traveller convenience, Emirates and Uber will explore logistics opportunities through Courier Express. The airline aims to boost delivery speed and efficiency by tapping into Uber’s global delivery network and advanced technology platform.
Adnan Kazim stated: “Emirates is excited to join forces with Uber as part of our commitment to delivering seamless travel experiences. In the months ahead, we’ll closely work together to leverage our combined capabilities in travel and technology.”
Anabel Diaz Calderon echoed the sentiment, noting: “We're thrilled to partner with Emirates, a global leader in aviation, to shape the future of travel. With tailored Uber airport rides and loyalty benefits, this collaboration will redefine the travel experience.”
Future initiatives
While details regarding commercial and technical implementation are still being finalised, Emirates and Uber plan to raise awareness through cross-promotional campaigns.
Uber, which began in 2010, has since completed over 58 billion trips globally. Its platform is now integral to how people, food, and goods move through cities, offering services in ride-hailing and deliveries alike.
